What is a Women's Resource Center?

A Women’s Resource Center is a place, where women can gather to use their knowledge and competence and represent women’s interest in regional and local development work. A fundamental principle of Women’s Resource Centers is that they should develop on the basis of local needs and conditions with primary task to increase the number of women participating in political and economic development and growth on both regional and local levels. Activities of a WRCs stem from the grassroots, as it identifies local needs and specific features of the area where it functions, maps available and feasible resources and develops its activities accordingly. We believe, that only sound knowledge of local context and recognized impact of the WRCs’ activities in local level will ensure that the grassroots perspectives on gender equality will be reflected in national, regional and local policies.
